The Tres Ríos Casa de Campo Experience

Tres Ríos Casa de Campo is a small, cozy lodge nestled in the Collón Curá Valley just 45 minutes from San Martín de Los Andes. The lodge’s friendly staff specialize in providing guests with the finest Patagonia experience—including world-class fly fishing, gourmet food and wine, and unparalleled comfort and seclusion. First class accommodations, breathtaking views, and world-class service further enhance this amazing destination.

The Chimehuin River is the crown jewel of Tres Ríos Casa de Campo. The smallest of the three rivers on the ranch, it is truly a dry fly fisherman’s paradise. Large overhanging willows, rock gardens, and slow eddies provide excellent cover for the numerous rainbow and brown trout that make the Chimehuin their home. Early in the season when the waters are still high, the numerous side channels are full of fish and offer easy wading access. As the season progresses and the water drops, the fish move out to the main river channel and can be accessed on foot or by drift boat. Prolific mayfly, caddis, and inchworm hatches throughout the season afford guests with excellent opportunities to sight-cast to rising fish. Larger flies including hoppers and Chernobyl Ants can draw violent strikes from big fish during the warmer hours of the day.

The Aluminé and Collón Curá Rivers are big freestone streams lined with large willows, beautiful high banks, and striking rock formations. Although they provide great hatches throughout the season, these two rivers are best known for their red-hot summertime terrestrial fishing. Large hoppers, beetles, and ants fished close to the banks bring explosive strikes as they float atop the gin-clear water. During the fall, large brown trout migrate up the Collón Curá to spawn. This concentration of fat and aggressive fish provides guests with the opportunity to catch the trout of a lifetime.

All the buildings on the ranch were built in traditional Patagonian style with stone from a local quarry and the distinctive red roof tops indicative of the region. Tres Ríos was designed to accommodate a single group of six to eight guests to maximize the private enjoyment of this magnificent ranch.

The main ranch house overlooks the Collón Curá Valley and features three spacious and well-appointed guest rooms each with their own private bathroom. The large living area and comfy dining room are handsomely decorated and feature a beautiful, hand-distressed bar and rafters made from local hardwoods. The stone house next door houses two additional guests. This cabin’s front porch offers a spectacular view of the valley, the perfect place to enjoy a hot cup of coffee as the sun creeps over the mountain to signal the start of the day. Gourmet cuisine and an excellent selection of premium Argentine wines add further comfort and enjoyment to your unforgettable stay. The lodge and menu were both built with sustainability in mind—utilizing solar and wind power as well as meat and produce grown on-site.

Since Tres Ríos caters to a single group of guests at a time, there is no set schedule. In addition to the amazing fishing opportunities, guests may choose to relax and enjoy the magnificence of Patagonia in a variety of ways. Nature lovers may spend the day mountain biking, bird watching, or exploring the volcano and lava formations in nearby Lanin National Park. Those interested in an authetic experience can explore the ranch on horseback like a true gaucho and enjoy a traditional Argentine asado upon returning to the lodge. City tours and shopping are also available for those looking to be a bit more social.

Several airlines offer daily flights from the U.S. to Buenos Aires International Airport (Ezeiza). These are typically overnight flights, arriving in Argentina early in the morning. Guests often choose to spend a day or two enjoying the wonderful food and culture of Buenos Aires before flying to San Martín de los Andes (CPC) to begin their stay at Tres Ríos.

From Buenos Aires, guests fly from the domestic airport, Jorge Newbery Airport (AEP), via Aerolineas Argentinas to San Martin de los Andes (CPC). Upon arrival, guests are greeted by a representative from Tres Ríos and transferred directly to the lodge approximately 45 minutes away. On the day of your departure, lodge staff will return you to the airport for your return flight to Buenos Aires Jorge Newbery Airport.

Important: There are two major airports in Buenos Aires. Domestic flights typically leave from Buenos Aires Jorge Newbery Airport (AEP), which is located on the other side of BA from the international airport, Buenos Aires International Airport (Ezeiza). Make sure to allow plenty of time between flights for the transfer. Please allow us to help you with any transfers in and around Buenos Aires.
